Pursuit

Life brings you many lessons.  Many of us will have to learn the same lesson over and over again but they are so important.  So please forgive me for returning to a theme I’ve discussed before.  I wrote this earlier tonight:

In our mad pursuit of something more, we mount valiant steeds and sally forth, ever in motion, ever pursuing.  Somewhere in the distance, you will find what you seek.  The surrounding world is a blur.  But we’ve fooled ourselves.  The target is an illusion.  The horse is carved wood.  And we are riding a never-ending intellectual carousel.  That’s when you see it.  A flash–a piece that doesn’t fit.  In the whirl of the merry-go-round, it is the one constant.  The one that doesn’t make sense in our merry world going round.  You seem to pass it and continue.  And then again, you see it out of the corner of your eye–it’s a face.  A person standing still while you are in motion. He just doesn’t make sense.  He doesn’t move the way our world moves.  He is the absolute in the dizzy world of fluctuating standards.  He is the small voice calling in the midst of the carousel organ music.  He is the One you seek but are afraid to find.  And He is waiting for your to get off the carousel and follow Him.

“Hallelujah, I have found Him Whom my soul so long has craved.
Jesus satisfies my longings.  By His blood I am now am saved.”–Clara Williams
